Sinus Augmentation

Sinus augmentation is a procedure sometimes needed when placing dental implants in the upper back jaw. Your sinuses are large, air-filled spaces located on either side of your nose. In some patients, these sinuses can be large or positioned low, or they may expand after losing upper back teeth, reducing the bone available for implant placement.

The sinus augmentation gently lifts the sinus floor and fills the space with bone graft material. This creates a stable foundation for implants, ensuring they are properly surrounded by bone, as implants cannot be placed in the air-filled sinus cavity.

Bone Graft

When a tooth is infected, it can cause bone loss in the surrounding area. To restore this bone, a bone graft may be needed, especially if the affected area will later receive a dental implant.
